Field Theory: the psychological theory that one's behavior and emotional state is affected by his or her physical environment.
Leah Harmatz founded Field Theory in 2015, guided by the belief that beautiful, functional design has a direct impact on our daily lives. We aim to add character and warmth to residential and commercial spaces with eclectic, layered designs and a point of view that activates all the senses.
Our projects are informed by the building’s character, its surrounding environment, and the client’s individual taste and lifestyle. We primarily focus on residences (new build and renovation), hotels, and commercial spaces that feel more like home. Our aesthetic is influenced by travel, architecture, handcrafted furniture, and antique finds. With a focus on preserving architectural integrity, we also seek to highlight and contrast historic details with modern furniture, art, and lighting. These juxtapositions allow each design to tell its own story.
Field Theory is a collaboration between Leah Harmatz and Mike Rosenzweig. With our left brains and right brains combined, we are able to deftly navigate all stages of a design project, from creative design conception through construction management, to the final finishing details.
